How to Cook Bacon in the Oven

Baking bacon is not only super simple, but it cuts down on clean up time and results in the most delicious bacon! Here is a brief overview of how to make it. You can find the full recipe and measurements in the recipe card at the bottom of the page.

  1. Preheat your oven. You want your oven to be hot and ready before you add the bacon.
  2. Prepare the baking sheets. Line your baking sheets with aluminum foil to help contain the grease and prevent the bacon from sticking. Lay out your bacon slices on the foil-lined baking sheet without overlapping the slices.
  3. Cook the bacon. Put the bacon in the hot oven, flipping the stips and turning the baking sheet halfway through.

The BEST Baking Sheets

Using Thick Cut Bacon

If you’re using thick cut bacon, you’ll need to adjust the temperature and the cooking time. To bake thick bacon, preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit . Bake for 14-16 minutes , rotating the pan and flipping the slices of bacon halfway through until it reaches your desired doneness.

Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit for perfectly crispy bacon.

For regular bacon, cook for 15-18 minutes. For thick cut bacon, bake for 14-16 minutes. Keep an eye on your bacon to make sure it is done to your preferences.

Yes you can! Turkey bacon may take less time to cook than regular bacon, so start by cooking it for 10 minutes and then increase the time as needed.

Storing and Reheating Leftovers

Store any leftover oven-baked bacon in the fridge in an airtight container for up to four days. Reheat leftover bacon in the microwave, air fryer, or on a skillet over low heat until heated through.
