What is it about holiday get togethers that are so much more magical than get togethers at other times of the year? I wonder if it is simply that it is the end of the year and people are taking stock of their lives. So at this time of the year everything feels just a little more precious and we are all a little more appreciative of those in our lives. Whatever the reason, I am all in for celebrating with my loved ones.

This amazing drink has been one of my most popular holiday cocktails for years, and it is perfect for celebrating with. You may remember it as Cranberry Pomegranate Champagne Cocktail, but also works so well as a Holiday Mimosa. Serve it for breakfast and brunch, or break it out to rock around the Christmas tree at night. Either way, your guests will love it.

Mimosa

Christmas Mimosa Ingredients

This Christmas mimosa recipe comes together with just three ingredients. Its bright red color and sweet-tart bubbly flavor make it a guaranteed crowd pleaser.

With pomegranate liqueur, champagne, and cranberry juice, you can create a festive Christmas cocktail everyone will love. For the full recipe, including all measurements, scroll to the recipe card at the bottom of the post.

  • Champagne: Prosecco or sparkling wine would also work in this recipe. Since the other ingredients have stronger flavors, using a bottle of excellent champagne isn’t necessary here. This recipe would also be fun to try with a sparkling Rose.
  • Cranberry Juice: Be sure to buy the cocktail and not plain cranberry juice. The regular juice is very bitter, but the cocktail variety has a subtle sweetness that works much better in this.
  • Pomegranate Liqueur: A popular brand of pomegranate liqueur is Pama. If you can’t find it at your local grocery store, head to the liquor store. This fruity liqueur is also great in Christmas Sangria and Easy Christmas Punch . To make a weaker drink, use pomegranate juice instead. (Just swap it one for one.)

How to Make a Christmas Mimosa

Here is a brief overview of how this festive Christmas cranberry cocktail comes together. Champagne and cranberry juice combine with pomegranate liqueur for a cocktail that is light, bright, and delicious. A perfect drink for Christmas morning or the whole season!

  1. Prep your glasses. If you are making this for a party, it’s really fun to rim the glasses with gold sprinkles. It makes for such a pretty-looking drink. Start by dipping them lightly in corn syrup and then in gold sprinkles (you can find the brand I use linked below).
  2. Add pomegranate liqueur. I use Pama, you could also use pomegranate juice for a weaker drink.
  3. Add cranberry juice. I added a cranberry and apple mix (100% juice) because straight cranberry juice isn’t easy to find. You could also use cranberry cocktail mix.
  4. Top with champagne . Make sure to open your bottle of champagne just before you are ready to make the drinks to keep it bubbly and fresh. Garnish your Christmas mimosa with fresh cranberries and pomegranate seeds.

You can make these cranberry mimosas as individual drinks or a whole big batch in a pitcher for hosting. Add champagne just before serving. Follow these measurements for 6 cocktails:

  • 1 1/2 cups pomegranate liqueur
  • 1 1/2 cups cranberry cocktail juice
  • 750 milliliters of champagne or sparkling wine
  • fresh cranberries to garnish
  • fresh pomegranate seeds to garnish

How to Serve

Like your classic mimosa, serve your cranberry mimosa in a champagne flute. Open your bottle of chilled champagne when you are ready to make your cocktails. You can prep the glasses and make the drinks ahead of time, but wait to add the champagne until serving.

To rim your champagne flutes with gold sprinkles for extra flair, dip the rim of the glass lightly in corn syrup. Then lightly dip it in a shallow plate of gold sprinkles. Prepare your glasses ahead of time to serve guests as they arrive.

Make it Non-Alcoholic

Make this Christmas Mimosa kid-friendly by using pomegranate juice instead of liqueur and sparkling grape juice instead of champagne. The result is still a bubbly and red drink that everyone can enjoy! This Non Alcoholic Mimosa is also a great option.
