Tips and Tricks

  • What bread to use: While I love to make homemade pizza with homemade pizza dough , this French bread pizza recipe has become a new staple around here. Start with a 16-ounce loaf of French bread that acts as the crust of the pizza. Italian bread works great because it tends to be wider and thinner. You are looking for a nice soft loaf, not a crusty baguette.
  • Skip the pre-shredded cheese: Please know that you will always take your recipe up a notch when you take those extra few minutes to grate your own cheese from a block rather than buying pre-shredded cheese. It will melt and taste so much better.
  • Topping ideas: The sky is the limit when it comes to toppings for this homemade pizza. Using different meats such as cooked ground sausage or beef, veggies like chopped bell peppers, green or black olives, or mushrooms, you can make it as simple or loaded as you like.

Storing and Reheating Leftovers

If you have any leftover pizza, cover or store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. It works great to reheat French bread pizza in the air fryer. You can also reheat only the portion you plan to eat in the oven until heated through. Always use your best judgment when reheating and eating leftovers.

What to Serve with French Bread Pizza

There are so many great sides that would go perfectly with this recipe.

  • These Baked Potato Wedges need to cook at the same temperature, so they would be perfect.
  • I love having a Caesar Salad with pizza. The tangy flavor of the dressing is so yummy.
  • Air Fryer Broccoli is something my kids love and can make themselves.
