This fudgy brownie recipe is everything you are looking for in a homemade brownie recipe. Each bite is bursting with rich chocolate fudgy flavor!

This amazing and easy brownie recipe comes together with just a handful of ingredients that you probably already have in your kitchen. It mixes up quickly and bakes up for the perfect bites of chocolate goodness. You will want to make these over and over again.

Key Ingredients
Here are some of the key ingredients that make up this easy homemade brownies recipe. Be sure to scroll to the recipe card at the bottom of the page for the full list of ingredients and their measurements.
- Butter: Gives brownies their rich, melt-in-your-mouth texture and flavor. It gives the brownies more of a fudgy, chewy texture compared to creamed butter which would result in more cakey brownies.
- Chocolate chips: Semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips can be used, depending on your preference.
- Cocoa powder: Adds additional chocolate flavor to the brownies. Opt for Dutch-process cocoa or unsweetened cocoa powder.
- Eggs: Add moisture and structure to the brownies while they bake.
- Flour: Gives the brownies structure, but can easily ruin the recipe if not measured correctly. Be sure to see all of my tips for measuring flour: How to Measure Flour .

How to Make Brownies From Scratch
Here is a brief overview of how this homemade brownie recipe comes together. Scroll to the recipe card at the bottom of the post for the full recipe, including all measurements and step-by-step directions.
Melt the Butter and Chocolate Chips
Melt the butter and chocolate chips over low heat, stirring often so the mixture doesn’t burn, until smooth.

Add the Cocoa Powder and Sugar
In a large bowl, combine the melted chocolate mixture with the sugar and salt, whisking until well combined. Mix in the cocoa powder.

Add the Rest of the Ingredients
Mix in the eggs and vanilla, then whisk in the flour until you don’t see any streaks of white.

Bake the Brownies
Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and use a rubber spatula to smooth out to the edges like in the photo below. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle of the pan comes out with only a few crumbs.

Storing Leftover Brownies
Store any leftover homemade brownies in an airtight container at room temperature or in the fridge for up to four days.
You can also store them in the freezer for up to one month. Allow to thaw or enjoy frozen brownies!
